That's why we've decided to bake these delicious hojicha gingerbread cookies using our Matcha Oishii hojicha powder, which goes great with the flavor of gingerbread and is also brown. Our hojicha has a delicious caramel, cocoa like flavor that goes perfectly well with the notes of these gingerbread cookies, and what's best is that Matcha Oishii's hojicha powder has an amazing flavor which you can also enjoy in a delicious hojicha latte to go along with these delicious hojicha gingerbread cookies.

Hojicha Gingerbread Cookies Recipe - Matcha Oishii

Hojicha is green tea that is roasted and due to this, loses almost all of is caffeine. So, not only is hojicha super low in caffeine, but the green tea becomes brown due to the roasting process. Its flavor is super unique and is loaded with health benefits.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without gingerbread cookies, but what truly elevates these is to add houjicha powder to your recipe! Once you try it, it will be hard to resist, because these hojicha gingerbread cookies are truly fantastic. Here's the recipe so you can bake them for your holiday party, share with your family, or simply to enjoy them dipped in milk! 


Servings:  30 cookies 

Prep time:   15 min                                                                                 

Total time:  45 min  (15 min baking time + 15 min cooling time) 


2 Cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 Cup of butter, softened

1 1/2 Cups sugar 

1 Tbsp ginger

3/4 tsp clove

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1 Tbsp cinammon

1 egg

1/2 Cup molasses

1 Tbsp Houjicha powder by Matcha Oishii

1. Start by mixing the dry ingredients in one bowl, and the wet ingredients in a  separate bowl.

2. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, and make sure they're well incorporated, mix thorouhgly, but do not overmix.  

3. Use your gingerman cookie cutter shape to cut the hojicha gingerbread cookies.

4. Bake at 165˚ for about 15 min.

5. Let your hojicha gingerman cookies cool on top of a cooling rack for 5 minutes.

6. Decorate your hojicha Christmas cookies with your favorite icing or toppings.
